I am always looking for the cheapest US airports to fly in and out of to get to my next fishing vacation.
I’d rather use my fishing vacation budget to go to a better fishing location or stay at a better fishing lodge.
Most of the prices for things on a fishing vacation are set. The fishing lodges, fishing tackle and other things are pretty set in stone with little price flexibility. However, plane tickets are the one place where you can find cheaper prices with not a ton of effort.
One of the things I do to try and save on plane tickets is generally fly the same airline. When flying in the US I use Southwest for a few simple reasons. There are no bag fees, a big deal when you are taking a lot of equipment. There are no ticket change fees, weather happens. Their airport terminals have good food and places to charge my computer and phone.
When I go international I generally use United Airlines and Alaska Airlines. Both provide good international flight service with plenty of airport hubs. With these three I can get about anywhere in the world.
The trick to getting a good ticket price is finding the cheapest US airports to fly in and out of.
Sometimes it’s cheaper to fly to or INSERT INTO another airport and if it saves a few hundred dollars it’s worth the effort.
